This fish is long and streamlined and found in both snow-fed and spring-fed rivers and dams of Nothern India. Known to grow to over 50 Kg's. Found in a variety of colours but commonly with two tone scales- gold and olive on the back, orange and silver on the belly. Its anal and tail fins are also yellow in colour but show many colour variations. There is a dark band along the lateral line.
