Considered a nuisance fish by Indian mahseer anglers till recently, as mentioned by legendary hunter and author Jim Corbett in his book ‘The maneater of Rudraprayag’ (Fishing interlude), this fish has gained reputation amongst anglers world over by few sensationalist who have given this fish an exaggerated reputation it does not deserve. This fish can grow to a mammoth size and dives beneath the boulders when hooked. It is very difficult to dislodge it once it takes shelter behind a boulder or in a cave. The modern tackle has made it possible to land this fish and gradually this fish is becoming a choice target world over.
