Humpback Mahseer - Mussallah
This fish can be identified by the prominent humpback, orange coloured tail and anal fin. Grows to above 50 Kg. Sometimes called the golden mahseer of south India, they come in a variety of colours. The easiest way to distinguish them is from the colour of the anal and tail fins.Used to be common to the Kaveri river and other rivers of Southern India. Now very few in number in the Kaveri and extinct in most other rivers of Southern India.
